LET MY NAME BE REMEMBERED FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS
BACKGROUND
Claudine (b. 1824), the second oldest child and the oldest daughter out of five to the prominent Duval family, was expected to represent her family by going on visits to their circle of acquaintances and land a respectable marriage, but fell in love with ballet, refusing both visits and marriage in order to join the Paris Opéra in pursuit of a star-tracked career for herself.
+ MORE She had been trained in dance at a young age, but didn't give it up as expected when she reached her early adolescent years. Instead, she pleaded with her father to enroll her at the Opéra School and since her father, much despite himself, could never deny his children anything, that was what happened. She studied the art form along with poor, promiscuous girls from the gutter and quickly showed great talent. Although, once she joined the corps, she was given many divertissements and smaller solo roles, she always seemed to be passed over for the big parts until one day, she was cast as the Sylph in La Sylphide, finally. Claudine was certain this meant she was going to be promoted, but at the end of the season, instead the ballet master brought in an Italian dancer to fill the empty prima ballerina spot. Dissatisfied with this, Claudine looked across the pond to greener pastures - the Music Halls of London where ballet was beginning to come into prominence. At an age of 24, in 1848, she secretly wrote the owner of Empire Theatre to take her on as an act, without having told her parents of her plans, and when she was accepted, she quite simply told her parents that she was moving to England to work as a dancer, period, something that caused quite the uproar. But if nothing else, Claudine had an iron will and when she'd set her mind to something, so it would be.

So it was.

PERMISSIONS
canon: Original. canon point: Defaulting to after she has left the Paris Opéra for Empire Theatre in London, but can play her from any point. active times/pace: CEST/CET player. Tries to be online at least during the evening my time, but it varies. More one tag a day player than anything, but if you hit me up at the right time, I can still boomerang a bit. brackets/prose: Brackets pref, am very, very slow with prose, but can match if necessary. offensive subjects/triggers for player: Not any. backtagging: Always happy to! threadhopping: Would like to avoid. fourthwalling: Difficult, since she's an OC. not interested in: Smut. physical affection: She's not the most receptive, but go ahead. physical violence: Prefer not. relationships: M/F or F/F both fine. psychic info: She has no mental barriers and will be an easy read. Ask if you need more. magical info: No magical powers, but happy to play with characters that do. medical info: Nothing of note, except probably some dance-related injuries in the past. offensive subjects/triggers with this character: Sex work is implied in her profession (she isn't a sex worker herself, but she has colleagues who are), as well as a very competitive environment. Both of which she might talk about in the language of the time.
